THERMAL INSULATION WORK
The Lambda T - Thermal insulation is used as both Thermal protection, Acoustic protection and Personnel protection. This is a multi-purpose product that can apply to classes 1, 4 and 6, 7 and 8 according to NORSOK standard. The solution is applicable in different production environments such as process industry, power plants, marine industry, and oil & gas. Our thermal insulation systems are tailor-made, and are delivered as flexible jackets or boxes in stainless steel. Insulation material and thickness will vary with the requirements. All seams in our flexible products are sewn with Kevlar reinforced stainless steel thread and sealed with silicone. The outer silicone coated fabric has no penetrations that could cause water ingress. All Lambda products are designed for quick and easy removal and re-installation with the use of minimum personnel, personal protection equipment and tooling.

COMFORT ISOLATION
Glasswool insulation from Glava is approved for use on vessels and on oil- and gas installations offshore through certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The certifications is build on demand of non-combustible materials in marine use. Low weight and large mechanical strength and flexibility makes glasswool well suited for comfort insulation on vessels. Saint-Gobain startet in 1992 the research and development works to improve the property with use of glasswool for high temperatur equipments and fire solutions in marine. Saint-Gobain wanted to keep the best property from glasswool and stonewool. The results is the insulation product we call ULTIMATE. All raw materials included in the production process is converted to high-grade insulation material. This is why ULTIMATE have its good insulation value even as thermal, fire and acoustics insulation. For condens insulation of refrigeration systems and chilled water piping for air-conditioning systems in marine applications we do have Armaflex cellular rubber from ARMACELL. This product has certificate from Bureau Veritas as a low flame spread characteristics.

ACOUSTIC
What is sound? In physical terms, sound is the mechanical vibration of a gaseous, liquid or solid elastic medium. Sound is a form of mechanical energy. It is produced, when particles oscillate around their equilibrium position. Propagation of sound in air happens, when a sound source, usually a vibrating object mechanically affected, makes the air molecules next to its surface oscillate around their equilibrium position in the stagnant air. Due to the elasticity of the air the sound is propagated through the air by successive oscillations of the neighbouring elastic air particles, and we have a steadily progressing sound wave. If the sound source is vibrating harmonically, the fluctuations of the air particles will be harmonic too, and this in any arbitrary point. In a sound wave in air the particles will oscillate in the same direction as the wave front propagates (=longitudinal wave), and this creates areas with higher respectively lower pressure compared to the atmospheric pressure. Therefore sound waves can be treated as pressure waves.
COMFORT
The requirements of the indoor climate and comfort have become more stringent during the recent years. The insulation constitutes an important factor of this, as it ensures obtaining that the correct temperature is obtained. The most common way of expressing thermal properties is by using the following nomenclature: - Coefficient of the Thermal - Transmission (U-value) - Thermal Resistance (R) It is important to note that the λ-value for any given material varies with temperature specification of the λ-value should therefor be referred to as "mean" temperature and, if possible, to a standardised method for measuerement and calculation.
FACINGS INSULATION
There are many reasons for choosing insulation products with facings. It is generally done to obtain a vapour barrier, which prevents formation of condensation on the cold side of a construction.
FIRESAFE INSULATION
The ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation products are based on stone wool, which cannot burn and which can stand temperatures up to 1000 degrees C without melting. Thus ROCKWOOL stone wool provides the best guarantee for an effective fire protection on board ships and offshore platforms. ROCKWOOL stone wool fibres can withstand more than 1000°C without melting, whereas the binding agent is lost at temperatures in excess of 250°C. When the temperature rises above 250°C, the binder will evaporate in the zone which is exposed to 250°C or more. But the fibres will remain intact as their inbuilt cohesiveness and layering will keep the fibres together, ensuring that the material will retain its rigidity and protect the material beneath it from being affected by the fire. Since mineral fibres are highly resistant to temperature variations, ROCKWOOL mineral wool can be used under conditions of very high temperature, provided that it is installed in such a way that mechanical stress will not alter its shape when the binder evaporates.
THERMAL
To guarantee a correct process cycle, the condition of the media within the pipes must remain within the set limitations (e.g. temperature, viscosity, pressure, etc.). In addition to the correct isometric construction and fastening of the piping, the piping insulation also has an important function. It must ensure that the heat losses are effectively reduced and that the installation continues to operate economically and functionally on a permanent basis. This is the only way to guarantee the maximum efficiency of the process cycle throughout the design service life without losses as a result of faults. Principially, a thermal insulation structure for piping consists of an appropriate insulating material, usually covered by sheet metal cladding. This protects the pipe and the insulation from external influences such as weather or mechanical loads. Spacers are also essential with insulation material such as wired mats , which do not offer sufficient resistance to pressure to hold the weight of the cladding and other external loads. These spacers transfer the loads from the cladding directly onto the pipe to be insulated. in case of vertical piping, support structures are fitted to take on the loads of the insulation and the cladding. In general, support structures and spacers form thermal bridges.
