For eksempel maskiner, beholdere, verktøy og annet utstyr som er naturlig å bruke i arbeidet, samt opplæring i og sakkyndig kontroll av slikt utstyr. Erfaring tilsier at hoveddelen av ulykker i forbindelse med bruk av arbeidsutstyr skyldes måten arbeidsutstyret brukes på, og ikke feil ved konstruksjon eller bygging av arbeids-utstyret.
